1980s UniMac still carrying the load…like, totally

Published On: December 29, 2021

It’s no secret that UniMac machines are built to last. That’s one of the reasons why so many consumers choose UniMac for their laundry needs. With that in mind, we created the UniMac Longevity Contest and began our search for the oldest machines out there that are still in use. Here’s a story from a second-generation hotel owner who’s still using a UniMac machine from 1982.

The owners of a Days Inn in Paducah, Ky purchased two UniMac washing machines in 1982 for a 120-room hotel property, which is busy year-round. As you can imagine, the machines get a LOT of use. About 10 years ago, they removed one of the two machines and the property has been relying on the existing machine from 1982. Without fail, that 1982-vintage washer-extractor is still operating, and solely managing the property’s wash loads for over 10 years.

So, not only is the UniMac washing machine from 1982 still operating, but it’s been doing DOUBLE the work for the last decade.

Curious about the winner of the contest? We’ve got the story here with details and you can check our video below.
